The pre-conference workshops, SAFE AND SOUND 2024, officially began on December 2, 2024, and spanned three intensive days of learning and collaboration. The event was inaugurated by Professor Đặng Hoàng Minh, Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the University of Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. In her opening remarks, she highlighted the importance of the upcoming sessions in advancing professional knowledge and skills.

Workshop: Teaching Recovery Techniques
Expert: Professor Unni Marie Heltne
The workshop introduced Teaching Recovery Techniques, a group intervention method designed for children who have experienced trauma. Rooted in cognitive-behavioral techniques, this accessible approach has been formalized into a structured guide to support trauma recovery in children effectively.

Workshop: Early Childhood Adversity and Global Mental Health
Experts: Associate Professor Ragnhild Dybdahl & Professor Lars Lien
The session focused on how early adverse experiences—such as malnutrition, violence, lack of healthcare, and inadequate caregiving—can significantly impact a child's lifelong development and well-being. The experts also emphasized the unique opportunities that childhood provides for positive interventions to mitigate risks and foster resilience.

Workshop: Neurophysiological perspectives on Neurodevelopmental disorders: Brain mapping and neurofeedback”
Expert: Professor Dr. Silvana Markovska Simoska
This session explored cutting-edge practices rooted in brain activity to address Autism Spectrum Disorders. Participants were introduced to advanced EEG and ERP techniques, blending neuroscience, clinical science, and nanotechnology. Practical training sessions enabled participants to gain hands-on experience in EEG and ERP recording and analysis. The workshop was hosted at the Vietnam National Children’s Hospital and warmly welcomed by the hospital staff.
The workshop provided a dynamic platform for academic engagement, featuring in-depth knowledge sharing from enthusiastic and highly skilled experts.

“Child and Family Well-Being for a Sustainable Future”
On December 5-6, 2024, the University of Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-UEd), in collaboration with Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences, hosted the International Conference on “Child and Family Well-Being for a Sustainable Future.” The event took place at the iconic Ngụy Như Kon Tum Hall of the University of Science, VNU, Hanoi.

Over two days, the conference featured eight plenary presentations and 16 breakout sessions. These sessions delved into diverse and critical topics, including:
- Adverse childhood experiences and related factors.
- The role of families in the well-being of children and adolescents.
- Behavioral and emotional health in students.
- Fostering resilience in adolescents.
- Well-being in children with neurodevelopmental disorders and their caregivers.
- Educational interventions promoting health and learning capabilities.
- Psychological interventions for children with mental health challenges, utilizing both technological and non-technological approaches.
- Enhancing mental health literacy among students.
Associate Professor Dr. Kerstin Søderstrøm, Head of the NORPART Project and Scholarship Coordinator, delivered the opening keynote titled "Child and Family Well-Being for a Sustainable Future."
This gathering offered a unique platform for practitioners and researchers to exchange the latest insights on child health and development. It provided opportunities to connect with leading experts from Vietnam and around the world, fostering discussions on innovative solutions to create a brighter future for children and families in Vietnam.
